H-Line Shipping, ExxonMobil name LNG carrier duo in South Korea

South Korea’s H-Line Shipping and US energy giant ExxonMobil recently named two newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers in South Korea.

ExxonMobil LNG, a unit of ExxonMobil, announced the naming ceremony, which took place at Samsung Heavy Industries, for the 174,000-cbm HL Alyssa Warner and HL Edward Austin in a social media post on Monday.

“ExxonMobil is honored to name two LNG tanker ships in memory of Alyssa Warner and Ed Austin, beloved colleagues who left us too soon,” the company said.

“Alyssa dedicated 21 years to ExxonMobil, and Ed was part of our team for nearly 15 years. Their contributions and spirit left a lasting impact, and this tribute ensures their legacy will continue to sail on,” ExxonMobil LNG said.

HL Alyssa Warner has already left the South Korean yard, and it was located in the Philippine Sea, Indonesia on Tuesday, while HL Edward Austin was located at the Okpo anchorage, according to their AIS data provided by VesselsValue.

Back in 2022, H-Line ordered these two LNG carriers and two more sister vessels at SHI.

The other two vessels are also scheduled for delivery later this year.

Each vessel is worth about $209 million, and they will serve 10-year charter deals with ExxonMobil, according to VesselsValue data.
