Australia’s Santos in another domestic gas deal

Australian independent LNG producer Santos signed a new domestic deal to supply natural gas in Western Australia.

This time the firm signed a deal with energy solutions provider, Kleenheat.

Kleenheat is part of Wesfarmers Chemical, Energy and Fertilisers, a group of businesses that will also utilise the gas.

Under the deal, Santos said it would supply more than 16 petajoules of gas from its Varanus Island processing operations. The agreement is for three years starting from 2021.

Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher said the deal further cemented the firm’s position as the “leading” supplier of gas in WA.

“In these challenging economic times, this agreement with one of Western Australia’s largest users of natural gas is good for Kleenheat, good for Santos and good for WA,” Gallagher said.

Furthermore, Santos supplies about 45 percent of WA’s domestic gas requirements.

Gallagher added the firm is committed to investing in the development of new gas supplies to meet the energy needs of WA.
