DSME clinches order for another LNG carrier duo

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering said it has received an order to build two new large liquefied natural gas carriers, boosting this year’s tally to seven LNG vessels.

DSME said on Friday the order for the two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers has a price tag of about 521 billion won ($430 million).

Also, the shipbuilder will deliver the dual-fuel vessels to an unidentified owner in North America by the end of December 2025.

DSME did not reveal any additional information regarding the order.

One shipbuilding source told LNG Prime that a unit of Singapore’s BW could be behind this order.

We could not confirm this by the time this article was published.

Including the new contracts, DSME secured orders worth about $3.47 billion for 13 ships and one field control station. The orders include four LNG carriers for Greece’s Maran Gas.

DSME has now achieved about 39 percent of its annual target of $8.9 billion.

Last year, the yard won about $10.8 billion in orders, exceeding its target of $7.7 billion.
