Eidesvik’s LNG-fueled PSV to continue work with Equinor

Norwegian shipping firm Eidesvik Offshore has secured a contract extension from compatriot energy firm Equinor for one of its LNG-powered PSVs.

According to a statement by Eidesvik, Equinor has declared options to extend the contract for the LNG dual-fuel 2003-built supply vessel, Viking Energy.

The contract extension runs from April 2025, extending the firm period to April 2030.

Also, the contract includes options for further extensions.

Eidesvik did not reveal any additional information regarding the contract.

Viking Energy has been in continuous operation for Equinor since its launch in 2003.

Besides LNG propulsion, the 94.9 meters long PSV features a battery hybrid system.

Eidesvik also has four other LNG dual-fuel PSVs in its fleet.

These are Viking Lady and Viking Prince, which currently serve Aker BP, Viking Princess, which currently serves Wintershall Dea, and Viking Queen, which currently serves Wintershall Dea and OMV.

All of these PSVs have a battery hybrid system installed.
