GTT bags first 2021 LNG tank order

France’s GTT has secured its first LNG tank job in 2021 following a series of 29 orders received in the second half of the previous year.

The newest tank design contract comes from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries.

Samsung is building a 174,000-cbm LNG carrier for South Korea’s Pan Ocean Co under a deal revealed in December last year.

Following delivery in the second quarter of 2023, the vessel will go on charter to Portuguese energy firm Galp.

The LNG carrier will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system, the French firm said.
