GTT nets DSME order for Arctic 2 LNG carriers

French LNG containment specialist GTT has secured an order from South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.

Under the deal, the French firm will design tanks for six ARC7 ice-breaking LNG carriers.

GTT said the 172,500-cbm carriers will get the firm’s NO96 GW membrane containment system.

The vessels in question will serve Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project that recently entered into long-term charter agreements for the ships with with Russia’s Sovcomflot and Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.

Daewoo is buidling three vessels, each, for the two ship owners with deliveries scheduled throughout 2023.
