GTT nets HHI tank order for LNG carrier trio

French LNG containment giant GTT said it has won a new order from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries to design tanks for three LNG carriers.

According to a GTT statement on Tuesday, the 200,000-cbm LNG carriers would feature its Mark III Flex+ membrane containment system.

GTT added that HHI expects to deliver the vessels during first, second and fourth quarters of 2025, but it did not provide any additional information.

This order is probably related to an announcement by HHI’s parent KSOE issued on March 3.

KSOE said that HHI would build three 200,000-cbm LNG carriers for an unidentified owner in Europe and deliver them in 2025.

Each of the LNG carriers has a price tag of about 234 million. They will be 299.8 meters long and 48.9 meters wide.

Shipbuilding sources told LNG Prime on March 3 that Greece’s Dynagas was behind this order for three LNG carriers.

Brokers also confirmed after the announcement that Dynagas had placed this order.

Prior to this trio, Dynagas ordered four 200,000-cbm LNG carriers at HHI last year.

The LNG shipping firm has nine 200,000-cbm LNG carriers on order at HHI scheduled for delivery during 2022-2025, according to VesselsValue data.
