GTT strikes HHI order for LNG carrier duo

French LNG containment specialist GTT has won an order from South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Under the deal, the French firm will design tanks for two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers Hyundai will build for an unidentified European owner.

GTT said the carriers will get the firm’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

Deliveries of the vessels are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2023, respectively.

GTT did not diclose the value of the deal.

To remind, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the parent of HHI, revealed the LNG carrier order last month. The order has a price tag of 425.1 billion won ($375 million).
