Hyundai Samho to build two LNG carriers for Asyad Shipping

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has secured an order to build two LNG carriers for Oman’s Asyad Shipping, according to Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

KSOE said on Thursday its unit Hyundai Samho would build the two vessels for 650 billion won ($501 million) or some $250.5 million per vessel.

The shipbuilder aims to deliver the ships by June 2026.

Including this contract, KSOE and its units received orders for a total of 197 vessels worth $23.9 billion this year.

KSOE now achieved 137 percent of its annual order target of $17.4 billion.

According to Asyad Shipping’s website, the company operates a total of six LNG ships to support the transportation of LNG produced at the Qalhat complex in Oman.

The latest addition to its fleet was the 162,000-cbm Adam LNG, built in 2014 by Hyundai Heavy Industries.
