Jiangnan confirms Adnoc LNG carrier order

China’s Jiangnan Shipyard confirmed it has secured an order from a unit of UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc) to build two large LNG carriers.

The shipbuilder controlled by China State Shipbuilding Corporation said in a statement on Wednesday it has signed the contract with Adnoc Logistics & Services.

Under the deal, Jiangnan would build two 175,000-cbm “LNG Jumbo” carriers featuring GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane system, it said.

Jiangnan said the dual-fuel carriers would also have a partial reliquefaction system.

This is the shipbuilder’s first order for large LNG carriers. It also marks China’s first order in the field of large LNG carriers for the international market, Jiangnan said.

Jiangnan did not reveal the price tag of the deal or the delivery windows for the vessels.

LNG Prime reported on this order, citing sources, on March 2.

The order also includes an option for two additional vessels, the sources said.

Adnoc would pay about $200 million per ship while Jiangnan would deliver the LNG carriers in the first half of 2025, the sources said.
