Larsen & Toubro scores Dahej LNG tank gig from Petronet

A unit of India’s engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro has secured a contract from compatriot Petronet LNG to build two liquefied natural gas storage tanks at the latter’s Dahej import terminal in Gujarat.

Under the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering will build two LNG storage tanks each with a capacity of 170,000 cbm, according to a statement by L&T.

The project makes part of an expansion at the Dahej facility called Phase IIIB.

L&T’s unit won the lump sum turnkey contract following an international competitive bidding round, the statement said.

It announced the contract as a “significant” order, valuing it between $135.7 million and $339.4 million.

Petronet’s Dahej LNG terminal currently has a 17.5 mtpa capacity and six storage tanks. The firm also operates the Kochi facility and is working on a new FSRU-based import facility at the Gopalpur port in Odisha.
