McDermott scores Vietnam LNG pipeline gig

McDermott International has won a contract from Delta Offshore Energy to provide front-end engineering design services for a subsea gas pipeline in Vietnam.

The pipeline will connect an LNG regasification platform to the planned 3,200 MW power plant in Bac Lieu Province.

The platform will be located about 35 kilometers offshore.

As part of the FEED scope, the US services provider will carry out the pre-engineering geotechnical and geophysical survey services.

Three months prior to this award, McDermott started a project feasibility study for the project.

Following completion of the FEED, the US firm expects to win the project’s EPCI contract in the first quarter of 2021.

Besides the onshore plant, Delta Energy’s LNG-to-power project includes Stena’s jetty-less FSU terminal.

Furthermore, the firm has signed signed a memorandum of agreement with GE for the supply of gas turbines.

Vietnam’s largest power firm EVN will buy the electricity generated by the project under a 25-year deal.
