Nauticor and Novatek in small-scale Baltic LNG deal

Germany’s Nauticor has signed a deal with a unit of Russia’s Novatek to join forces in developing LNG supply infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region.

Under the letter of intent, Nauticor and Novatek Green Energy aim to further develop the marine LNG bunkering market by delivering via both bunkering vessels and trucks.

The duo will focus on the development of such infrastructure in ports along the German Baltic Sea coast, Nauticor said in a statement on Wednesday.

Both companies are already active market players in the North European LNG market.

Novatek has LNG production capacities in Yamal and Vysotsk while Nauticor has experience in setting up supply chains for LNG as marine fuel by truck as well as operating bunkering vessel Kairos.

The commitment of a strong player like Novatek to small-scale LNG infrastructure “underlines Nauticor’s efforts to develop the last mile of the LNG supply chain from the terminal to the end-customer,” Gregoire Hartig, senior business development manager of Nauticor said.

“The Rostock LNG terminal is obviously an important addition to that and a natural starting point for such a cooperation,” he added.
