NFE picks Honeywell pretreatment tech for FLNG projects

US LNG firm New Fortress Energy has awarded a contract to compatriot Honeywell to provide pretreatment technologies for its floating LNG production projects.

According to a statement issued by Honeywell on Thursday, NFE will use a series of technologies from Honeywell UOP to remove various contaminants from natural gas prior to liquefaction at its “Fast LNG” projects.

Each project is a nominal 1.4 million tonnes per annum LNG gas treating and liquefaction plant.

Honeywell UOP will provide engineering services and process technology which will pretreat feed gas at the facilities, the statement said.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the deal or any additional information regarding the projects.

Wes Edens-led NFE currently plans to install five floating LNG producers in the Gulf of Mexico, including off Louisiana, Altamira, and Lakach.

The firm will use its “Fast LNG” liquefaction design that incorporates modular, midsize liquefaction technology with jack up rigs or similar offshore infrastructure.

NFE also recently signed a deal with Golar LNG to sell its stake in the 2.4 mtpa FLNG Hilli located offshore Cameroon’s Kribi in exchange for the return of 4.1 million NFE shares and $100 million in cash.

Golar will acquire the 50 percent interest in trains 1 and 2 of the FLNG Hilli, currently owned by a subsidiary of NFE.

Following the transaction Golar will have no remaining shareholding in NFE.
