Pakistan floats tender for one spot LNG cargo

State-owned Pakistan LNG has released a new tender inviting firms to submit bids for one spot LNG shipment in May, as the country looks to secure much-needed supply to fuel its power plants.

According to a tender document released on April 27, the delivery window is May 17-18.

Pakistan LNG is seeking the 140,000 cbm cargo on a delivered ex-ship (DES) basis while the prompt tender closes on April 29.

Also, the potential tender winner would deliver the cargo to the FSRU BW Integrity serving Pakistan GasPort’s terminal in Port Qasim, Karachi, or the Energo Elengy facility.

Prior to this tender, Pakistan LNG sought six LNG cargoes over the May-June period with TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy submitting the lowest bids.

Reuters reported that Pakistan LNG chose not to take offer from Vitol for the May 17-18 delivery as part of that tender and the firm is probably now looking to secure a better price. Vitol offered a price of $31.7780/MMBtu.

Pakistan LNG also launched another tender for a single cargo on April 21 where TotalEnergies submitted the lowest offer for the May 1-2 delivery offering a price of 29.6700/MMBtu.
