US-based firm Venture Global LNG selected KBR as the lead contractor for its Plaquemines export development in Louisiana.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract is for the first phase of the LNG export project in Plaquemines Parish.
KBR will integrate highly modularized, owner-furnished equipment for the 10 million tonnes per annum facility, Venture Global said.
Plaquemines LNG will deploy Venture Global’s liquefaction trains 19 through 36, identical to the 18 trains currently being delivered and installed at Venture Global LNG’s Calcasieu Pass project.
The Plaquemines LNG project has previously received all required regulatory approvals.
Additionally, the project has binding 20-year offtake agreements with Poland’s PGNiG for 2.5 mtpa and France’s EDF for 1 mtpa capacity.
The full project includes 20 mtpa capacity, four tanks and three jetties.
According to Venture Global’s website, the firm plans financial close for Plaquemines LNG in mid-2021. Commercial operations should start in 2024.
