Golar LNG chief Iain Ross resigns

Golar LNG has launched a search for a new chief executive after Iain Ross decided to step down from the position following almost four years with the firm.

The LNG firm’s board received a resignation notice from Ross on Monday.

Golar said in s statement Ross’ contractual termination period of six months can be prolonged or reduced upon mutual agreement.

The company did not provide any additional information on the resignation.

Ross has served as CEO since September 21, 2017. Prior to joining Golar, he held various executive level positions with Australian engineering firm WorleyParsons.

New Fortress deal to close soon

Golar LNG also said it was finalizing the previously announced deal with Wes Edens-led New Fortress Energy.

The US firm will acquire Hygo Energy Transition, a joint venture consisting of Tor Olav Troim-led Golar and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners, but also Golar LNG Partners.

The move is one the biggest deals in the LNG industry since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic early last year.

Golar said the NFE transactions would “simplify the company’s structure, crystalize underlying value and strengthen the balance sheet.”

The firm said the majority of the closing conditions had been completed and it expects to finalize the transactions soon.
