Qatar’s Nakilat says logs highest yearly profit

Qatari LNG shipping giant Nakilat posted its best-ever yearly profit in 2021 as it continued to grow the company’s fleet.

Nakilat logged a consolidated net profit of about 1.35 billion riyals ($378.8 million) in the January-December period, a rise of 16.7 percent when compared to 1.16 billion riyals in 2020, the firm said on Sunday.

In addition, Nakilat said its revenue reached about 4.14 billion riyals ($1.13 billion) last year, up 3.1 percent when compared to the year before.

The LNG shipper said its board recommended a cash dividend at 0.12 riyals per share.

In October 2021, Nakilat took delivery of the 173,400-cbm Global Sea Spirit, followed by the 174,000-cbm Global Sealine in January this year.

Following these deliveries, Nakilat’s fleet rose to 74 vessels. These include four LPG carriers and one FSRU.
