Belgium’s Fluxys offers additional Zeebruge LNG slots

Belgian LNG terminal operator Fluxys is offering additional regasification slots for 2023 at its LNG import facility in the port of Zeebrugge.

“In our continuous effort to enable increased LNG supply into Europe, Fluxys LNG is happy to announce it will be offering 13 additional primary slots to unload, store and regasify 13 LNG cargoes in the Zeebrugge LNG terminal in 2023,” Fluxys said in a statement.

The firm said it would auction March 23 and March 28 slots in early January and the remaining slots later in 2023 on a month +3 basis.

Besides March, Fluxys is offering one slot in July, three in August, two in September, three in October, and two in December.

The Zeebrugge terminal currently consists of five tanks with a storage capacity of 566,000 cbm and a regasification capacity of about 6.6 mtpa.

However, Fluxys is expanding the facility to almost double the regasification capacity.

Earlier this year, Fluxys revealed that it had sold out all Zeebrugge LNG truck loading capacity until 2024.

Fluxys decided to build four additional bays last year due to the sharp increase in demand for LNG as fuel for trucks and ships. It also started offering bio-LNG services at the plant.

Besides the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, Fluxys operates the Dunkirk plant in France.

Fluxys and EIG also bought an 80 percent equity stake in GNL Quintero, the largest regasification terminal in Chile.
