Blue Grid, Mytilineos wrap up first LNG truck loading op at Revithoussa terminal

Greece’s Mytilineos and Blue Grid have completed the first truck loading operation at DESFA’s LNG import terminal located on the island of Revithoussa.

DESFA launched the new LNG truck loading station in November last year.

Small-scale LNG firm, Blue Grid, said in a social media post on Thursday that it joined forces with Mytilineos to complete the first truck loading operation at the Revithoussa facility.

“A whole range of customers now have access to cleaner and affordable energy,” the firm said.

Last year, Spain’s Molgas, owned by French private equity firm InfraVia Capital Partners, purchased a controlling stake in Blue Grid.

Blue Grid supplies LNG to consumers in manufacturing and shipping.

The company has also joined forces with one of the largest fuel retailers in Greece, Elinoil, to create BlueFuel, the country’s first LNG fuel supplier for road transport.

Mytilineos said in a separate statement on Thursday that the truck loading operation is part of the company’s expansion plans.

According to Mytilineos, the two firms will now start supplying LNG via trucks from the terminal to Greek industrial users.

In addition, Blue Grid will also put into operation the first two LNG fueling stations for trucks in Athens and Thessaloniki this year, it said.

DESFA said in a statement later on Thursday that Blue Grid, DEPA Commercial, and Motor Oil took part in the first performance test at the LNG truck loading station.

“Through the new facility, DESFA offers yet another flexible energy solution for the supply of natural gas to off-grid users and areas, enhancing security of supply in Greece and the wider region,” the company added.
