BlueFuel, Scale Gas to build Greek LNG filling stations

BlueFuel has joined forces with Scale Gas, a unit of Spanish LNG terminal operator Enagas, to build liquefied natural gas filling stations for trucks in Greece.

The duo entered into strategic cooperation under which Scale Gas would provide know-how for the installation and maintenance of LNG filling stations, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Greece’s Elinoil and compatriot Blue Grid have earlier this year teamed up to create the country’s first LNG fuel supplier for road transport, BlueFuel.

The 50/50 joint venture will develop a nationwide network of filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles, enabling the use of LNG as a road fuel in Greece but also the wider region.

Elionoil is one of the biggest independent fuel suppliers and traders in Greece and operates a network of filling stations, while Blue Grid develops downstream LNG supply chains in the industrial, marine, and road transport sectors.

BlueFuel would start supplying both LNG and CNG in the first quarter of 2022, the statement said.
