DEME’s cable installation vessel in first LNG bunkering op

DEME’s dual-fuel cable installation vessel Living Stone has completed its first LNG bunkering operation in the Dutch port of Vlissingen.

Dutch supplier Titan LNG fueled the vessel via its FlexFueler bunkering barge, Belgium’s DEME said on Monday.

“Living Stone then went on to successfully complete her LNG sea trials,” the dredging firm said.

DEME did not provide any additional information. The company has been using the 161 meters long dual-fueled vessel for work at wind farms since 2018. However, it seems that the vessel’s LNG fueling system had not been completed at the time of delivery.

LNG Prime has contacted DEME for a comment on the matter.

The Belgian firm has been heavily investing in dual-fuel ships as it looks to achieve climate-neutral operations by 2050.

Besides this vessel, it has several LNG-powered dredgers but also an offshore installation vessel in its fleet.
