Greece’s Elinoil and compatriot Blue Grid have teamed up to create the country’s first LNG fuel supplier for road transport.
The 50/50 joint venture BlueFuel will develop a nationwide network of filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles, enabling the use of LNG as a road fuel in Greece but also the wider region, according to a joint statement.
Elionoil is one of the biggest independent fuel suppliers and traders in Greece and operates a network of filling stations, while Blue Grid develops downstream LNG supply chains in the industrial, marine, and road transport sectors.
The joint company should start supplying LNG in the first quarter of 2022, the statement said.
Worth mentioning here, Greece’s DESFA is building a truck loading station at its terminal on the island of Revithoussa, west of Athens.
The firm expects to complete the facility by the end of this year.
