French LNG terminal operator Elengy, a unit of Engie’s GRTgaz, now expects to resume sendout at its Montoir-de-Bretagne facility on August 5.

Elengy revealed this in a note posted on its website last week.
“For safety reasons, and in reference to planned works on the Montoir terminal, the start of sendout is postponed from August 1 to August 5, 2024,” it said.
Prior to this, Elengy delayed the restart two times from July 8 to July 22 and from July 22 to August 1 due to “safety reasons”.
Elengy did not provide further details.
Earlier this year, sendout from Elengy’s Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou LNG import terminals was reduced due to a strike by Elengy’s workers over pay.
The Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou LNG terminals are located on the Mediterranean coast, while the Montoir-de-Bretagne facility is located on the Atlantic coast.
These terminals have a combined regasification capacity of some 21.5 bcm per year.
Launched in 1972, the Fos Tonkin LNG terminal has a capacity of about 1.5 bcm, while the Fos Cavaou terminal, which launched in 2010, has a capacity of about 10 bcm.
The Montoir–de-Bretagne LNG terminal has been in operation since 1980 and has a capacity of about 10 bcm.
Last year, operations at Elengy’s LNG terminals were also affected due to a strike against the government’s pension reform.
Besides these three facilities, France also has the Dunkirk onshore LNG terminal and the Le Havre FSRU-based LNG import terminal, operated by TotalEnergies.
