France’s Elengy gets 10,000th LNG cargo

French LNG terminal operator Elengy said it has received the 10,000th shipment since the first delivery at its Le Havre terminal in 1965.

Elengy, a unit of Engie’s GRTgaz, currently operates three terminals at Fos Cavaou, Fos Tonkin, and Montoir-de-Bretagne. It received 690 LNG cargoes at Le Havre up to 1989.

Its Fos Tonkin facility leads with 5854 cargoes, followed by Montoir-de-Bretagne that received 2856, and Fos Cavaou with 600 shipments.

In addition, the firm said it has to date unloaded 326 million tonnes of LNG, about 10% of all LNG cargoes that have been delivered worldwide. This represents the equivalent of Europe’s gas supply over one year, Elengy said.

In more than 50 years, Elengy unloaded LNG from 15 different countries, such as Algeria, Nigeria, Egypt, Qatar, Russia, etc.

The volumes were delivered onboard nearly 290 different LNG carriers, it said.
