GasLog’s LNG carrier fleet to feature Kongsberg Digital tech

Greece-based LNG shipping firm GasLog will install Kongsberg Digital’s Vessel Insight on its fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers as part of a deal revealed on Wednesday.

Norway’s Kongsberg Digital, a unit of Kongsberg, said in a statement it recently signed an agreement on the Vessel Insight infrastructure with Gaslog LNG.

This means the entire fleet, counting 35 vessels, would become digitized, resulting in better data collection and utilization for GasLog, according to Kongsberg Digital.

The infrastructure provides Gaslog LNG with “instant and easy access to fleet overview, vessel specific dashboards and analysis tools,” it said.

“Our goal is to limit the impact of our operations on the marine environment and minimize our emissions, while making LNG shipping reliable and profitable for our customers,” Marios Sarafidis, GasLog’s energy and decarbonization manager said in the statement.

Kongsberg Digital did not provide any additional information regarding the contract.

GasLog’s consolidated fleet currently consists of 39 LNG carriers, 35 on the water and four under construction in South Korea. These include 15 vessels from the company’s unit, GasLog Partners.
