Gastrade began the three-month maintenance on April 1 to implement final system adjustments and complete remediation work related to a technical issue that emerged in January 2025.
The spokeswoman said on Thursday that the maintenance works were “successfully completed on time.”
“On Monday, July 6, the terminal received a cargo and is currently undergoing the cooling-down process,” she said.
The spokeswoman did not provide further details regarding the cargo.
Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz, a unit of state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding, launched a tender in May seeking one LNG cargo for delivery via the Alexandroupolis FSRU-based terminal in early July.
According to its AIS data provided by VesselsValue, the 180,000-cbm Rias Baixas Knutsen was located at the Alexandrouplis FSRU on Thursday morning local time.
The 2019-built LNG carrier delivered a cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana, the data shows.
“According to the latest progress update, regasification is anticipated to resume on July 14,” the Gastrade spokeswoman said.
Asked about the upcoming LNG deliveries, she said that “a further two cargoes are scheduled for delivery in early and late August, respectively.”
In May, Bulgaria’s Bulgartransgaz awarded an LNG cargo tender to Greece’s DEPA to deliver one LNG shipment to the Alexandrouplis FSRU in early August.
DEPA is a shareholder in Gastrade, along with Bulgartransgaz, Copelouzou, DESFA, and GasLog.
The Alexandroupolis LNG terminal has a capacity of up to 5.5 bcm per year, or some 66.3 TWh per year.
It is the first FSRU-based facility in Greece and complements DESFA’s LNG import terminal on the island of Revithoussa.
