According to a Himalaya statement, the company has entered into a new time charter agreement for the 2024-built bulker Mount Aconcagua for a period of 16 to 18 months.
Himalaya said the vessel will commence the new time charter in the second half of July following the planned redelivery under its current charter.
“The vessel will earn an index-linked rate, reflecting a significant premium to the Baltic 5TC index, as well as certain rights to convert the time charter to a fixed rate based on the prevailing FFA curve from time to time,” it said.
Himalaya did not provide further details.
Himalaya has 12 LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers in its fleet.
China’s New Times delivered Himalaya’s final bulk carrier, Mount Emai, in June 2024.
Himalaya’s vessels achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of approximately $52,900 per day in June.
The company announced in May that it has agreed to convert the index-linked time charters for four vessels to fixed-rate time charters at an average rate of approximately $56,500 per day, gross, for June.
In April this year, Himalaya entered into a new time charter agreement for the 2024-built bulker Mount Emai for a period of 12 to 14 months.
The vessel started the new time charter in the first half of May.
In March, Himalaya entered into a new time charter agreement for the 2023-built bulker Mount Matterhorn for a period of 12 to 14 months, while in January, the company entered into a new time charter agreement for the 2023-built bulker Mount Ita for a period of 11 to 14 months.
