Maran Gas picks Kongsberg tech for its LNG fleet

Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime said it has secured a contract from Greece’s Maran Gas to supply the latter’s fleet of LNG carriers with its information management system.

Under the deal, Maran Gas will roll out Kongsberg’s K-IMS Information Management System across its entire fleet.

Most ships in the Maran Gas fleet already have K-IMS-ready hardware in place.

By the end of 2021, more than 20 LNG carriers of various propulsion types would receive the new system, Andreas Spertos, EVP, technical director, Maran Gas Maritime, said in a statement.

He added that the implementation of the system would continue for existing but also newbuild vessels until the entire fleet of more than 40 LNG carriers gets the upgrade.

“K-IMS will replace the existing limited capability data transfer system and will provide us with unlimited opportunities to develop and advance further our in-house fleet monitoring and analysis systems that support the safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operation of the fleet,” Spertos said.
