Molgas expands LNG bunkering network with first French operation

European small-scale LNG player Molgas has expanded the company’s LNG bunkering network with the completion of its first operation in France.

Molgas said in an emailed statement on Monday that the group’s inaugural operation in France involved the delivery of LNG to a dry bulk ship at the port of Honfleur.

Moreover, Molgas used two trucks for the bunkering operation coordinated by its local French office in collaboration with French stakeholders.

The Madrid-based group, owned by French private equity firm InfraVia Capital Partners, did not provide any additional information regarding the vessel or its owner.

Johannes Richter, the group’s head of marine, said that the company’s focus is on building a Pan-European platform for LNG and bio-LNG supply to the maritime industry.

He said the delivery at Honfleur was the first operation and starting point for future deliveries across French ports.

Molgas has significantly expanded its operations in the last three years, including the industrial sector, truck filling stations, and bunkering.

Back in 2021, the group completed a deal with LNG giant Shell to buy Norway’s Gasnor, and also acquired in 2022 a controlling stake in Greece’s Blue Grid.

Most recently, the group bought a 45 percent stake in Dutch LNG supplier Titan.
