According to a statement by Shell, Sawan won the support of 98.67 percent of shareholders at the AGM.
In addition, Shell shareholders re-elected Chair Andrew Mackenzie.
Mackenzie won the support of 91.43 percent of shareholders.
Shell shareholders also re-elected chief financial officer Sinead Gorman.
Gorman won the support of 98.49 percent of shareholders.
The statement also shows that the shareholders rejected resolution 22.
“The level of votes on resolution 22 requires us to explain what actions we intend to take to consult shareholders in order to understand the reasons behind the result, and report back within six months,” Shell said.
“We will meet this obligation by continuing to engage with shareholders and we welcome feedback in terms of our LNG disclosures as we prepare the note on our website related to the LNG market, Shell’s LNG business, and how our LNG business reconciles with our broader strategy and climate commitments,” the company said.
Sawan said that Shell’s shareholders have “strongly backed” the company’s strategy to deliver more value with less emissions as outlined at Shell’s capital markets day 2025.
“Our focus on performance, discipline, and simplification enables us to invest in providing the energy the world needs today, and in helping to build the low-carbon energy system of the future,” he said.
Shell’s adjusted earnings reached $5.58 billion in the first quarter od this year, down compared to $7.73 billion in the comparable quarter last year.
Adjusted earnings rose 52 percent compared to $3.66 billion in the prior quarter.
Income attributable to Shell shareholders reached $4.78 billion, down compared to $7.35 billion in the first quarter of 2024 and a 415 percent increase compared to $928 million in the prior quarter.
The company sold 16.49 million tonnes of LNG in January-March, a drop from 16.87 million tonnes of LNG in the same period last year.
LNG sales rose 6 percent compared to 15.50 million tonnes in the prior quarter.
Shell sold 65.82 million tonnes of LNG in 2024, a 2 percent decrease from 67.09 million tonnes of LNG in 2023.
