Shell: Asset Commercial Lead Gorgon

Shell is seeking an asset commercial lead for the Gorgon LNG project in Australia.

The Asset Commercial Lead (ACL) is accountable for all the commercial arrangements underpinning the project , including JV negotiations, operationalization of JV agreements, stakeholder management, business development of upstream development assets, and facilitate within Shell on lifting arrangements, retention lease strategies, protecting Shell reputation and representing Shell in relevant venture forums with the objective of maximizing the value of Shell’s interest in the venture consistent with the agreed business mandate.

What we need from you

We are looking for individuals with extensive experience as an asset commercial professional with understanding of the full value chain for complex integrated gas projects, including marketing LNG, liquids and Domgas, and solid knowledge of all types of upstream commercial arrangements, including demonstrable experience of working in a joint venture environment with preference for non-operator experience.

What’s the role?

The ACL Gorgon will be entrusted to:

  • Manage governance activities including input, guidance, and direction to Operator in the capacity as a non-operator.
  • Act as an Alternate Shell Representative at the Gorgon Operating Committee.
  • Manage all commercial activities including retention lease strategies and renewals, business development, optimization, and negotiation of JV agreements, as well as liaising with Shell Energy’s LNG/condensate lifting managers and domgas marketing arm.
  • Lead/co-ordinate venture effective influencing strategies and plans to ensure a single Shell voice within the venture.
  • Co-ordinate the influencing strategy for annual venture Work Programme and Budgets.
  • Build relationships with JV partners and other stakeholders to influence and align work programs, HSSE compliance and imperatives in GHG management, negotiation strategies, external affairs, government engagement strategies.
  • Lead specific/special projects within the JV or within Shell that have a commercial and/or reputational impact on Shell’s interest.
  • Lead Shell’s (joint) domgas price reviews with Buyers and accordingly influence JV, and closely liaise with the Value Chain Optimization Team in Shell Energy on LNG and condensate price reviews, including supporting management of these with the ATO. 
  • Prepare and maintain internal mandates and provide necessary inputs into Shell’s annual business planning cycle and reserves review cycle.
  • Contribute to the development of the long-term asset (Performance Unit) strategy, including Gorgon Asset backfill projects.
  • Contribute to the broader Asset Commercial Team development.
