Bocomm Leasing takes delivery of LNG-powered tanker

China’s Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co (Bocomm Leasing) has taken delivery of another LNG-powered tanker which will go on a charter to a unit of LNG giant Shell.

CSSC’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) delivered the 110,000-dwt crude oil and product tanker, Proteus Phillipa, on September 18, it said in a statement.

According to GSI, this is the third out of eight LNG-powered LR2 tankers the shipbuilder is constructing for Bocomm Leasing.

The yard delivered the first and the second vessel in May and August this year, respectively.

Bocomm Leasing ordered twelve dual-fuel tankers in April 2020 at two CSSC yards for about $54 million per each vessel.

Besides these eight ships, CSSC’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) is building the four other tankers and it recently delivered the first vessel, Proteus Jessica.

The ships will be 249.95 meters long, 44 meters wide, and they feature two type C LNG fuel tanks as well as WinGD dual-fuel main engine.

Following delivery in 2022-2023, all of the LNG-powered vessels will go on charter to Shell.
