Borealis and Viking Supply Ships welcome second LNG-powered PSV

UK-based shipping firm Borealis Maritime and Sweden’s Viking Supply Ships have taken delivery of the second LNG-powered platform supply vessel from Poland’s Remontowa.

Viking will operate and commercially manage the Cooper Viking PSV as part of a deal it signed with Borealis in October 2019. The Swedish firm partially owns the newbuild.

Remontowa said it handed over the dual-fuel newbuild on April 15 and the ship will soon start work in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. The vessel already arrived in Stavanger, its AIS data shows.

The 89 meters long PSV is a sister vessel to Coey Viking which Remontowa delivered earlier this year.

Both of the Wartsila-designed hybrid vessels sail on LNG or MGO, but they also feature a battery pack.
