Elenger’s LNG bunkering vessel launched

Damen’s Chinese yard in Yichang recently launched the 6000-cbm LNG bunkering vessel for Estonia-based Elenger, formerly known as Eesti Gaas.

The launching ceremony for the 100 meters long vessel named Optimus took place on September 8.

Following delivery in first quarter 2021, the vessel will supply LNG to wide range of ships sailing in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea, especially the Gulf of Finland.

These include two new Tallink’s LNG-powered fast ferries. Elenger is part of Infortar group that includes Tallink, the ferry company operating in the Baltic Sea region.

The new bunkering vessel will be able to transfer up to 1000 m3/h of liquefied natural gas via a ship-to-ship method.

Furthermore, it will have an ice class 1A allowing it to operate in difficult ice conditions.
