EPS takes delivery of its first LNG-powered PCTC

Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of its first LNG-powered pure car and truck carrier in China.

The Idan Ofer-led shipping firm announced the delivery of Lake Herman in a social media post on Friday.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing built the LNG dual-fuel PCTC with a capacity of 7,000 ceu.

Besides LNG dual-fuel capabilities, the vessel features a shaft generator and shore and battery power, EPS said.

CSSC’s Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) designed the LNG-powered PCTC classed by DNV.

The shipbuilder said this is the first of ten PCTCs it will build for EPS.

The dual-fuel PCTC has a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 38 meters, and it has a designed speed of 19.5 knots and 12 cargo decks in total. It features two 2,000-cbm LNG storage tanks.

Besides China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, EPS has more LNG dual-fuel PCTCs with a capacity of 7,000 ceu on order in China.

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai is also building six LNG-powered PCTCs for EPS.

VesselsValue data shows that EPS has 15 more PCTCs on order at China Merchants yards scheduled for delivery between 2023 and 2026.
