Himalaya’s LNG bulkers earned about $23,100 per day in June

LNG-powered bulker owner Himalaya Shipping achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $23,100 per day in June.

Tor Olav Trøim’s Himalaya said in a commercial update on Tuesday that its three vessels trading on index-linked time charter earned about $20,500 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber benefits of about $1,600 per day last month.

The company’s only vessel trading on fixed time charter earned $30,000 per day, gross, it said.

According to Himalaya, the Baltic 5TC Capesize Index averaged $13,247 during June, down from $17,773 during May.

Himalaya’s two vessels trading on index-linked time charter earned about $27,400 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber benefits of about $2,500 per day in May.

China’s New Times Shipbuilding is building in total twelve LNG dual-fuel Newcastlemax bulk
carriers for Himalaya.

Earlier this year, Himalaya took delivery of the first vessel, Mount Norefjell, followed by the delivery of the second vessel, Mount Ita, and the third vessel, Mount Etna.

The latest and the fourth LNG-powered bulker, Mount Blanc, joined Himalaya’s fleet on May 31.

NTS also launched the 210,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel, Mount Neblina, on June 9, the sixth vessel in this batch of twelve.

Up to date, Himalaya secured charter deals for nine of these ships.
