Himalaya’s LNG bulkers earned about $37,600 per day in July

LNG-powered bulker owner Himalaya Shipping achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $37,600 per day in July.

The shipping firm said in a commercial update that the average time charter rate includes average daily scrubber and LNG benefits on 11 vessels of about $1,800 per day.

Tor Olav Trøim’s Himalaya said its four vessels trading on fixed time charters earned about $36,900 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber and LNG benefits on three vessels.

The company’s eight vessels trading on index-linked time charters earned about $37,900 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber and LNG benefits.

The Baltic 5TC Capesize Index averaged $25,542 during June.

Himalaya now has 12 LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers in its fleet.

China’s New Times delivered in June Himalaya’s final bulk carrier, Mount Emai.

During the same month, Himalaya achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $36,400 per day.

Himalaya also agreed to convert the index linked charter to fixed charter rates for one vessel.

From August to December, the vessel will earn $40,810 per day, gross, and will continue to earn scrubber premium according to the terms of its existing time charter agreement.

Himalaya’s board has approved a cash distribution of $0.06 per share for July.
