Keel laid for Donsotank’s 1st LNG-powered tanker

China’s Wuhu yard recently held a keel laying ceremony for the first out of two Donsotank’s LNG-powered product and chemical tankers.

The ceremony for the 22,000 dwt tanker took place on August 21, the vessel designer FKAB said in a statement.

To remind, Swedish privately-owned shipping firm Donsotank ordered the LNG-powered tankers in December last year.

Both of the Ice class 1A ships will have LNG propulsion. But Wuhu will also prepare them for the installation of a battery pack.

They will be 167.3 meters long featuring an F-Bow design hull optimized to withstand harsh weather conditions.

The Chinese yard will deliver the vessels in 2021.
