Singapore’s FueLNG wraps up 100th STS bunkering op

Singapore’s FueLNG, a joint venture consisting of Shell and Seatrium Offshore & Marine, has completed its 100th ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation.

According to a statement by FuelLNG, the milestone operation took place on October 11 at Singapore’s Very Large Crude Carrier Anchorage.

During the operation, the 7,500-cbm bunkering vessel, FueLNG Bellina, delivered LNG to Anglo American’s operated vessel, Ubuntu Humanity.

Mining giant Anglo American named this and one more 190,000-dwt LNG-powered bulk carrier in May this year at China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.

On the other hand, FueLNG Bellina is Singapore’s first LNG bunkering vessel and it completed its first operation with a CMA CGM container vessel in March 2021.

In June, the 18,000-cbm FueLNG Venosa completed its first LNG bunkering operation to the 210,000-dwt bulk carrier, Mount Tai.

This is FueLNG’s second bunkering vessel and the JV charters it from Korea Line LNG, a unit of SM Group’s Korea Line.

Since its establishment in 2016, FueLNG has carried out over 500 truck-to-ship bunkering operations, and more than 650 truck-to-industry LNG distribution, apart from the 100 STS LNG bunkering to dual-fueled vessels in Singapore, it said.

FueLNG said it plans to add bio-LNG and hydrogen-based e-LNG to its portfolio in the future to further slash emissions.
