Wallenius SOL takes delivery of LNG-fueled Baltic Enabler

China’s CIMC Raffles in Yantai has delivered the second LNG-fueled RoRo vessel to Sweden’s Wallenius SOL.

The Chinese yard said in a statement it handed over the vessel during a ceremony held on Wednesday.

This follows the delivery of sister vessel Botnia Enabler in May.

Wallenius SOl claims these are the world’s largest ice-rated multi-fuel ConRo vessels.

The ships have a length of 242 meters, a beam of 35.2 meters, a capacity of 5,800 lane meters, and the highest Finnish-Swedish ice class to cope with the harsh winter conditions in the Gulf of Bothnia.

In addition to their classic RoRo function, the Knud E. Hansen-designed ships have a large capacity for containers.

The ships feature two 685-cbm type C LNG tanks, provided by MAN Cryo, as well as two WinGD dual-fuel main engines.

Botnia Enabler is already in the Mediterranean Sea and should arrive in Belgium’s Zeebrugge on June 30, its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows.

Following arrival the vessel will enter regular traffic on the Zeebrugge-Antwerp-Kokkola-Skelleftea-Oulu-Kemi-Travemunde route.
