China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has delivered the second of ten ultra-large LNG dual-fuel container vessels to French shipping giant CMA CGM.
Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding, a unit of Yangzijiang, delivered CMA CGM Pantheon on July 21, and the vessel departed the yard on July 25, according to a Yangzijiang statement.
Yangzijiang said this vessel is the second in a series of 10 24,000 teu LNG dual-fuel ultra-large container ships for CMA CGM.
These are also the largest LNG dual-fuel container ships in terms of container capacity in the shipbuilder’s history.
Construction of the vessel began in February 2025, and Yangzijiang claims it delivered the vessel 71 days ahead of the contractual delivery date.
This vessel has a length of 399.9 meters, a beam of 61.30 meters, a depth of 33.5 meters, a design draft of 14.5 meters, and a service speed of 21.55 knots.
Equipped with GTT’s 18,600 cbm LNG fuel tank, the vessel can operate round-trip routes between Asia and Europe on a single LNG refueling, Yangzijiang said.
CMA CGM announced in a separate social media post last week that the naming ceremony took place for CMA CGM Pantheon.
The shipping firm claims that CMA CGM Notre Dame, which was delivered in May, and CMA CGM Pantheon are the world’s largest LNG-powered containerships.
CMA CGM is one of the world’s largest backers of LNG as a fuel, with a large fleet of LNG dual-fuel vessels.
Sources recently told LNG Prime that CMA CGM is looking to order more ultra-large LNG dual-fuel containerships.
