Zodiac Maritime orders LNG PCTCs at CIMC Raffles

China’s CIMC Raffles in Yantai has won a contract from Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime to build LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers.

CIMC Raffles said in a statement on Thursday the two firms signed the contract via a video meeting.

Eyal Ofer, chairman of Zodiac Group, and Wang Jianzhong, CEO and president of CIMC Raffles, attended the ceremony.

The order includes four firm 7000 CEU dual-fuel PCTCs plus “multiple options”, the yard said.

Designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the vessels will have a length of 199.90 meters, a width of 38 meters, and a service speed of 19 knots.

In addition, the ships will feature two sets of C-type LNG storage tanks, CIMC Raffles said.

The yard did not provide and additional information.

VesselsValue data shows the contract includes up to 12 LNG-powered PCTCs each worth about $83 million. CIMC Raffles should deliver the ships in 2023-2024.

Zodiac Group operates a diversified fleet of over 180 vessels worldwide. Its UK-based international ship management company, Zodiac Maritime, is headquartered in London.
