Croatia to get another US LNG cargo

Croatia is due to receive another cargo of liquefied natural gas following the recent arrival of Adam LNG at the Krk Island facility in the northern Adriatic Sea.

The 173,400-cbm Patris should arrive at the LNG Croatia FSRU on March 24, according to the Rijeka Port Authority. The vessel was on Monday located at the Freeport LNG terminal in Texas, its AIS data shows.

Owned by a joint venture comprising of Japan’s K Line LNG Shipping and Greek shipowner Chandris, the ME-GI LNG carrier serves BP under a long-term charter.

Patris would deliver Croatia’s third-ever cargo but also the second from US as the 155,000-cbm Tristar Ruby delivered the first from the Dominion Cove Point facility.

The state-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia said last week it expected another cargo to land at the Krk facility in March after the delivery of LNG Adam.

Croatian power utility HEP, a shareholder in the terminal, purchased the second cargo while capacity holder Hungary’s MFGK took the first shipment.

Besides MFGK, capacity takers include trading firm MET and Qatar’s PowerGlobe.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

The LNG import project costs 233.6 million euros ($277.7 million) but the European Union provided 101.4 million euros.
