Croatian FSRU to get first Trinidad LNG cargo

Croatia is expected to receive its first LNG cargo from Trinidad and Tobago this week at the Krk FSRU in the northern Adriatic Sea.

The 2021-built 174,000-cbm LNGShips Empress, chartered by Shell, was on Thursday morning located near the 140,000-cbm LNG Croatia FSRU, its AIS data shows.

It previously visited Trinidad and Tobago’s Point Fortin LNG export facility, the data provided by VesselsValue said.

This shipment would mark the first LNG cargo from Trinidad and Tobago to dock at the Krk facility since the start of commercial operations on January 1.

In addition, LNGShips Empress would bring the 14th shipment in total to the Krk terminal.

Previously, the LNG Croatia FSRU received eight shipments from the US, two cargoes from Qatar and Nigeria, each, and one from Belgium’s Zeebrugge.

State-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia recently closed the facility for its first maintenance turnaround since it started operations.

The firm said then the maintenance would last from October 1 to October 15.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

Switzerland-based trading firm MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
