Gladstone LNG exports continue to rise

LNG exports from the Gladstone port in Australia’s Queensland have increased 14.1 percent in August when compared to the same month in the year before, according to Gladstone Ports Corporation.

In August, about 1.90 million tonnes of LNG has left the three Gladstone terminals on Curtis Island, GPC’s data shows.

This equals 29 LNG cargoes and compares to 25 shipments in August 2020.

Most of these exports or 1.35 million tonnes landed in China, followed by South Korea, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia.

To remind, Gladstone LNG exports also rose in July to about 1.77 million tonnes, up 6.1 percent year-on-year. Exports also reached record numbers in the 2020/21 financial year.

Curtis Island is home to the Santos-operated GLNG plant, the ConocoPhillips-led APLNG terminal, and Shell’s QCLNG facility. These are the only LNG export facilities on Australia’s east coast.
