GPC: Gladstone LNG plants shipped 28 cargoes in August

LNG exports from the Gladstone port in Australia’s Queensland were almost flat in August compared to the same month last year, according to the monthly data by Gladstone Ports Corporation.

Curtis Island is home to the Santos-operated GLNG plant, the ConocoPhillips-led APLNG terminal, and Shell’s QCLNG facility. These are the only LNG export facilities on Australia’s east coast.

Last month, about 1,836 million tonnes of LNG or 28 cargoes left the three Gladstone terminals on Curtis Island.

This compares to 1,837 million tonnes or 29 cargoes in August 2022, the data shows.

August LNG exports rose by about 1.9 percent compared to the previous month when LNG exports reached some 1,802 million tonnes of LNG or 27 cargoes.

Moreover, most of August LNG exports, or 1,104 million tonnes, landed in China, marking a rise of 19.8 percent compared to 922,050 tonnes last year.

Volumes to South Korea dropped to 241,598 tonnes from 285,929 tonnes last year, while volumes to Malaysia decreased slightly to 244,274 tonnes last month from 248,015 tonnes last year.

GPC also reported that 116,694 tonnes of LNG were sent to Singapore, 67,400 tonnes were sent to the Philippines, and 62,383 tonnes were sent to Japan.

Volumes to Singapore decreased from 128,056 tonnes in August last year, while volumes to Japan dipped from 253,742 tonnes last year.
