Hoegh Giant FSRU arrives at H-Energy’s Jaigarh LNG terminal in India

Hoegh LNG’s FSRU has arrived at H-Energy’s import facility in Jaigarh, India following a trip from Singapore.

“This is a historic moment for India as it got its first floating regasification terminal unit,” H-Energy said on Monday.

The LNG terminal would play a “pivotal role” as India looks to increase the share of natural gas in its energy mix, the firm said.

Hoegh Giant will deliver natural gas to the 56 km Jaigarh-Dabhol pipeline connecting the LNG import terminal to the national gas grid.

Moreover, the vessel will also deliver LNG for onshore distribution through truck loading facilities, as well as reload the fuel onto small-scale vessels for downstream distribution or bunkering services.

The vessel has a storage capacity of 170,000 cbm and a peak regasification capacity of 750 mmscfd.

Hoegh Giant will serve the terminal for a period of 10 years with annual termination options after year five.

H-Energy, led by Darshan Hiranandani, previously said it plans to build the Jaigarh terminal in two stages. Besides the first 6 mtpa stage which includes the FSRU, the firm also aims to add an onshore facility.
