India’s Inoxcva tests LNG dispensers at Petronet’s Dahej and Kochi

Cryogenic tech firm Inoxcva said it has tested its newly developed LNG dispensers at Petronet ‘s Dahej and Kochi terminals as India looks to boost the use of the fuel in transport.

India has plans to build a nationwide network of about 1,000 LNG filling stations for trucks as part of a move to shy away from diesel and slash emissions.

The government of India is promoting natural gas through various policy and regulatory reforms towards making the country a gas-based economy by increasing the share of the fuel in the primary energy mix.

Inoxcva said in a statement on Thursday announcing its new dispenser that the development of the new tech is “in line with the government of India’s policy to promote LNG as fuel for heavy vehicles in the country.”

In addition, the Indian firm said that the trials at Petronet’s facilities have found the equipment to be “extremely efficient and highly effective.”

Inoxcva claims the new product to be India’s first-ever LNG dispenser.

It complies with ISO 16924:2016 norms while the country’s Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization approved it. The firm said it has secured ATEX certification as well.

On top of the new launch, the firm has also developed equipment for mobile LNG fueling station to cater to the requirements of mining industries and remote areas, it said.

To remind, the firm announced in March last year a partnership with Shell’s unit in India to develop the market for LNG supply by road from the import terminal in Hazira. The duo also agreed to work on LNG as a transport fuel for heavy-duty trucks and buses.

Shell Energy India launched a truck loading unit at its Hazira LNG terminal in Gujarat, the firm’s first move into small-scale infrastructure, in January this year.
