Indonesia’s Lampung FSRU wraps up 39th STS LNG transfer

Hoegh’s Lampung FSRU serving Pertamina’s Perusahaan Gas Negara off the southeast coast of Sumatra in Indonesia has completed its 39th ship-to-ship LNG transfer since 2014.

PGN LNG, a unit of PGN that operates the floating LNG import facility offshore Lampung, said on Monday the transfer of about 126,000 cbm of LNG took place on May 6-7.

The 2006-built 135,000 cbm, Prima Carrier, delivered the shipment from BP’s Tangguh LNG export project in Indonesia’s Papua Barat province.

PGN LNG said this marks the third cargo arrival for this year. The underutilized 2.7 mtpa facility received its 30th cargo in March last year since it started operations in 2014.

Connected to a tower yoke mooring system, the 170,000-cbm FSRU delivers gas via a 21 km long offshore pipeline for power generation and industrial users in West Java.

The unit serves a 20-year charter deal PGN has with Hoegh. Hoegh manages the FSRU while its MLP Hoegh LNG Partners owns it.

However, HMLP and PGN are still in a dispute regarding the charter of the FSRU, revealed last year.

To remind, HMLP said in August last year it had filed a countersuit against Indonesian state-owned gas firm PGN over issues related to the Lampung FSRU charter.

Parent Hoegh said in February HMLP’s main focus remained the dispute with the charterer of PGN FSRU Lampung but “no assurance can be given at this time as to the outcome of the dispute”.
